What is caña flecha? / ¿Qué es la caña flecha?

It is a thin cane (similar to bamboo) with numerous green leaves, it can grow up to 10 meters high.

Es una caña delgada (parecida al bambú) con numerosas hojas de color verde, puede crecer hasta 10 metros de alto.

How is the fiber processed? / ¿Cómo se procesa la fibra?

This fiber is obtained from the vein of the leaves through a scraping process with a blade, the longest fibers are taken and the vein of the leaf is removed. Those that are very clean are selected and those with spots or pigments are washed with a special organic orange and lemon substance to prevent staining. The dark colored fibers are tainted in mud and the process is repeated for at least 3 days until the desired color is obtained.

Esta fibra se obtiene de la vena de las hojas mediante el proceso de "raspado" con un cuchillo se toman las fibras de mayor longitud y se saca la vena de la hoja luego se seleccionan las que están bien limpias las que presentan manchas o un pigmento y se lavan con una sustancia orgánica especial de naranja agria y limón para evitar que se manchen. Las fibras de color oscuro son pintadas en barro el procesos se repite hasta por al menos 3 días hasta obtener el color deseado.
