RON GOBERNADOR: THE RUM OF CARTAGENA.

RON GOBERNADOR

During colonial times, alcohol and tabacco were privledges of the Spaniards - Natives had to buy it clandestinely.

However, after Colombia gained independence from Spain in 1811, one of the state's main income was generated by the control and comercialization of spirits in the Carribean. But it was only between 1869 - 1879 when Governors Antonio and Manuel Gonzalez Carazo, heard of the rumour of an exquisite rum that had been kept secret - as if it was a hidden treasure. To this day, Ron Gobernador, the rum of Cartagena, continues the tradition of producing a fine rum in Cartagena de Indias.

Ron Gobernador has a complex and elegant taste of salty and sweet wood with a hint of cinnamon and ginger.
